QuestionThis year my zucchini plants look great and have plenty of flowers...but I am getting much fewer actual zucchinis than I have in the past. Could you tell me why? I live in the Chicago area and it has been an abnormally hot summer.
AnswerWe have experienced the same thing here in Ohio, not only with zucchini, but also eggplant. Weather plays a definite role in how certain plants perform. When temperatures stay consistently over 90F, many plants will not produce. It's nothing you've done or could have done differently. If conditions return to normal next summer, you will most likely see much better results.
Good luck, and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Mike
