QuestionHi;
I was wondering when I know my acorn squash plant was done producing?
I have gotten 4 huge squash already with the possibilities of a couple more, but I haven't seen a new flower in a week or so. Should I wait? Do you think it will do something more? I'm in the northwest, how late is my growing season for squash?
AnswerBarbara:
It's hard to say, this has been such a funny year for farmers and gardeners here in the PNW. The nights are so darn cool, those are the important temperatures for fruit set.
Usually summer squash will continue to produce until frost. My zucchini has 3 babies on it and no flowers. It may be done, and it may pop out another blossom any day. Who knows?
Anyway, I'd leave it and keep hoping. If it were a winter squash, I'd say time to give up.
