Butternut Squash Wilt

Question
I have 6 plants that were growing as expected and suddenly all have wilted. The leaves are green and the vines are not quite ready to send out blossoms.  Coincidentally, I have 1 of 4 pumpkin plants and 1 of 4 zucchini plants that have the same appearance.  They are planted in a topsoil/horse manure blend with a sprinkle of Preen over the entire garden. I have other non-vining plants in the same area that are doing just fine.  We have had apprx. 4 inches of rain in 7 days, and average temps in the high 70's to low 80's.  I appreciate any advice... my butternut is my favorite squash, and I'm desperate to save them!

Answer
It's hard to say what it is from your description. The leaves are green, but they are wilted? Do you see any insects on the underside of the leaves? Are there any white or black spots on the leaves or vines?

It could be insects or a fungal disease, given your humid weather and heavy rain. Since it sounds like they are still rather young, I doubt that there is any saving them. I would start over in a different spot, if you can.
