Question
Is Long Island, NY,  well water safe for growing vegetables.  Until now I've been using it for grass only.

Gene, I personally do not have a well, but I can tell you that many of the gardeners who write to me swear by how well their crops do when irrigated by well water. Unless treated, well water has fewer chemicals than tap water. Natural water such as rain water and untreated water from wells is much more beneficial.
