QuestionI have been growing tomatoes for 30 years and have never seen the condition I now have. I have 12 plants (home started) which looked exremely healthy until about 10 days ago-(lots of foliage and fruit) Suddenly much of the new growth toward the top of the plants appears very light yellow, especially where the new leaf meets the stem its growing on. The condition appears to be expanding and I'm afraid of losing entire plants Do you think I should cut off all plant tops in hopes of saving what I have?
I live in Western Pennsylvania and the weather this year has been ideal until last week when we had large amounts of rain.
Thanks for your help

AnswerCarl:
It is possible that the soil has become a bit waterlogged due to the recent rains. I would check that - dig down to 12" if you can, and see how wet it is. If that is not the problem, watch the plant. If the yellow leaves wilt and turn brown, then you may have a fungal disease. cutting the tops off won't help - the plants would have to be pulled up and destroyed.
