Maximizing quantity

Question
I'd like to know what plants could be planted together to max the output per sq ft of space?I'm in Green Bay,WI.We had snow today & it will be 80 degrees in 2 days! Thanks for your knowledge!  Jim

Answer
Jim:

When interplanting crops you should consider both root growth and top growth. So planting something like carrots or beets between leafy greens would allow enough space for both to grow.

Growing crops with a low fertility requirement along with one with a higher requirement is also a good way to pair them up.

Also take into consideration how much water each crop will need and when. For example, if you are growing onions for storage they need to go without water for a couple of weeks prior to harvest. So planting them with melon, say, which would have a high water requirement at that time would not be a good idea.

Does that help?
