I'm doing a school project for Agriculture. I'd like to know if there are any companion plants to help prevent mildew on pumpkins or if companion planting is even and option.

No, there are no companion plants for mildew. Companions mostly work against insect pests, and even then their effectiveness is still questionable.

You can use a spray of baking soda and water - 1Tbl baking soda per gallon of water.
