QuestionI want to build a raised vegetable plot on an existing concrete base. What depth of earth do you think i need and do you have any other advice regarding this project?
Very many thanks.
AnswerDear David,
This is not my actual area of expertise, as I am just a basic organic in the earth, gardener, but I have done some checking. Most experts recommend 1 foot for depth of a raised vegetable garden. I've also read about just setting 1 foot cubed containers on concrete or slab and planting each type of produce in separate containers, as the concept of rows is not needed. I'm not sure I'm typing what I'm trying to say, but the message I got in reading about this was you could get more plants to a square foot than rows in a raised garden. Hope this helps and I wish you much success.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
