QuestionThis is the 2nd year we have grown sugar babies. Last year they were beautiful, sweet and red inside. This year we planted in a new area of our property near pumpkins just like last year. The fruit is beautiful and no bugs or outside problems. However when we picked them, they are just light pink inside. they are edible but look like rind. We planted and are picking about the same time as last year. Are they not ready> We picked about 2 weeks ago and then figured they were not ready and waited. A little more pink inside but still not red. We did have alot more rain here...in zone 5? what are we doing wrong
AnswerDear Ingrid,
If you're not doing anything differently, you're not doing anything wrong. The weather has been quite rainy this year in many areas and much of the produce has been affected.
Hopefully next year, the rain will be more seasonal. I do think things are a bit later this year, though, so maybe another week or two will help. I wish I could be of more help, but nothing has been usual this year, it seems.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
