Is it possible to freeze eggplant and if so, are there specific steps in doing so?

Dear Gary,
As an eggplant lover, I do freeze it, but it loses some of it's integrity, for lack of a better word.  It won't grill, it's rather limp, but it maintains it's flavor.  I bake with it when I freeze it, but that's about it.  Peel it, cut or slice it, and blanch it.  Place it in freezer bags with air removed.
