tomatoe gqarden problem

Question
An animal ( do not know what kind)  gets into my tomato garden at night and takes a bite out of  ripe tomatos. The bite is about the size of two postage stamps

Answer
Dear Frank,
I'm guessing a squirrel of some sort, or something in that family.  Try placing some ground cayenne pepper on the foliage and the fruit.  It will wash off when it rains or you can wash it when you pick the fruit and there will be no residual issues, but it does usually work to repel squirrels and/or prairie dogs or moles.
I hope this takes care of your midnight visitor.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
