QuestionHi, we are container gardening in a greenhouse, and having problems getting vegis, the plants grow beautifully produce lots of flowers, then that's it, the flowers drop off and poof, no vegi. One tomato plant is about five feet high, I just removed a bunch of tomato horn worms (obviously it tastes good) I just can't produce any tomatoes! I also have cabbage worms, I've been picking them off - gross, and thought I'd won...today I noticed they were all over my brussel sprouts!!! Yuck! They've about destroyed the leaves on both cabbage and sprouts - will I still get sprouts? What can I do? Somebody recommended vegi oil mixed with dish soap sprayed on weekly...? I'm about at whits end! Please advise.
AnswerTammy:
Your green house is infested with worms. Some of these worms do not come out until night time and you might not see them.
I would spray at night with friendly Sevin. Spray the plants and also spray the ground in your green house.
If these are night crawlers pick off all that you can see and kill them.
Soap and vegetable oil is also OK. Not so much oil or soap as it might damage the leaves.
For the cabage that worms have penetrated most likely outside spraying will not kill them. However, when you cut the cabbage you can still us it by discarding the worms.
Spray around the door and around the outside of the green house. With this level of problem it.
Best wishes and good luck.
