QuestionI recently re-plated about 10 tomato plants because they were originally planted too close together. The plants are about a foot tall and 3 have begun to grow green tomatoes. Within 2 hours after re-planting i noticed they were beginning to wilt. I used potting soil up to about the bottom leaves and watered well. Is it normal for the plants to wilt after being uprooted and re-planted?
AnswerJeremiah:
Tomatos have fragile and sensitive roots. Thus the reason for wilting. Continue to keep them watered and see if they come along. This is the only thing that you can do,
If they show good signs of life within in a few days apply a good grade of organic fertilizer and keep them watered.
I am hoping that they will recover. Please let me know how you make out as I have not had this experience before and it will be useful for the future.
Best wishes.
