QuestionI have my tomato and string beans growing in containters. Last year, I used
organic potting soil and chicken manuer and I coverd them with fine wood
chips. They grew great. This year I added worm compost. The problem is, the
tomato plant leaves are solid yellow with small black dots, and the bean
leaves are turning yellow and brown. I'm also having problems with the
watermelon leaves. I have those planted in the ground with the same planting
matirial as the veggies. The leaves on the watermelon are turing patchy
brown, and then shriveling up. What may be happening? Is this a nitrogen
problem? If so, what should I do?
AnswerCollen:
It sounds like your tomatoes are suffering from the lack of fertilizer and perhaps water.
Watermellons need a good fertilizer and lots of water. Look closely at the leaves to verify that there are no mites on the bottom side of leaves.
Best wishes and good luck.
