QuestionHello, I started growing some tomatoes this spring for the first time. I was very exited yesterday to see that we would be eating the first one soon when I noticed that the bottom of it had been eaten by a bug already. The tomato still had skin-it looked like it was trying to heal, but my question is if the citronella oil will help with all types of bugs that might come to the plant. Can I spray it on pretty much any part of the plant? and if so should it be done often?
Thanks!
Arianne
AnswerArianne:
I would be disappointed alson. Please look to insure that there are no vermins or birds eating your tomatoes.
In the meantime this sounds like worms that may only come out at night and you don't see them so I suggest that you spray good around the base of the plant and on the plants with Sevin dust mixed with water.
I sure wish I had one of those great American tomatoes. In Thailand we only have one time and they don't taste very good. I have not been successful in growing Better Boy or Beef Steak here.
Best wishes and I hope that this helps.
