QuestionI just read that, in order to have a sucessful harvest of corn, I must plant atleast 16 stalks? I bought and planted corn 5 weeks ago and the container they came in had 3 stalks. I planted each container as 1 plant (in one spot). My question again is, since I only have what looks like 4 corn plants, in actuality, I have 12 individual stalks, will they produce? I hope this made scense to you. I live in central California, just south of Sacramento. Corn is growing all around me in my country neighborhoods right now. Is it possible to have something floating in the air that can help them along, as far as the pollination?
AnswerDear Carrie,
I always plant corn from the kernel, so I'm not experienced with what you have described, but I think the stalks should be separated. As far as the number of plants is concerned, if there is a breeze or insects, pollination should occur.
I hope this helps. If I've misunderstood your question, please write back.
Kind Regards,
