Questioni know honeydew is a fruit and not a vegetable, but the guy that gives answers for fruit is unavailable, so i figured id ask you instead since you might be able to just as well answer my question or give some helpful advice:
i live in texas, and i've been trying to grow honeydew for some time now. however, i haven't been having too much luck in the last 2 years and im beginning to wonder if it maybe just isn't possible to grow honeydew in texas? if it is possible, could you maybe give some advice on what i can do to possibly get better results. Manuel
AnswerDear Manuel,
I am not an expert on honeydew melons, but I do believe they grow best in semi-arid, warm climates, so Texas should be good. I would suggest that you do a bit of checking regarding your soil. Perhaps it's too sandy or too rich. I'm not sure which is better for honeydew, but I know for other melons, too rocky or sandy soil is a disadvantage. Try enriching the soil or asking a local nursery if they can give you any hints.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
