QuestionI'm starting my first vegetable garden and I just purchased jalapeno and green bell pepper starter plants. When is the best time to put these into the ground? I've heard that I can go ahead and put my onions, into the ground and wanted to go ahead and plant the starter plants as well. I live in north Texas, which I'm sure makes a difference. Thanks!
AnswerOnce the fear of a frost is over you can put your plants in the ground. Dig a good hole and make sure that the soil is mixed with mulch. Starter plants should receive about 1/2 day of full sun and wind for 5 days or so to adjust to the climate. Then plant them. They have adjusted to new conditions.
Pepper plants may contact lots of bugs and problems so keep a close eye on them and spray as needed. They also like water once or so per week.
Good luck.
