Question
I have a very healthy plant, many blooms that take and cantalope are growing to about 7" in diam.  Problem is, they taste terrable.  Very juicy and nice looking but not very sweet and they have a very bad after-taste.  I was so looking foward to sweet juciy fruit.  What gives?

Dear Larry,
I do know what you are referring to with cantaloupe.  I have two thoughts and a suggestion.  The ground is depleted or the soil is very unbalanced.  I suggest this fall that you prepare the soil with chicken litter or manure and cover it with mulch or straw for the winter.  Next spring, the soil should be closer to the balance that will produce good fruit.
