Tomato Plants Drooping

Question
my tomato plants were doing great but all of a sudden the leaves are drooping.  I am growing them in pots. Could this be the problem?

Answer
Sherron, it is very common for tomatoes grown in pots to drop their leaves due to stress from dry or infertile soil. It is vital that the soil be moist a minimum of 3" below soil level. It is also important that when you water, you water deeply, several times per week. Shallow watering causes the roots to reach for the surface where they dry out quickly.

Finally, always use a soil medium that is high in nutrients. Organic soil comprised of compost and peat moss is one alternative; the other is a good potting mix. These mediums hold water much better and continually provide nutrients to the plants as they grow.

I hope this answered your question. Please write again if I can ever be of assistance.

Regards,

Mike
