QuestionHello Kindred!
I am a second year gardener. I have recently switched over to the square foot
method and have my little plots all laid out. I recently transplanted California
Wonder Green and Green and Red pepper plants into my garden. The plants
seem to be doing well, but my question is this. The leaves on my bell pepper
plants are turning a purple/blackish color. The leaves do not seem to be
wilting or dying back. It is very odd. I am in Colorado, Zone 5.
I grew the transplants from seed started indoors then under flourescent
lights. They did very well inside, nice stocky wide plants. I hardened off for
10 days. Not quite sure what is going on.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Bob
AnswerDear Bob,
I have gotten so many questions regarding this situation with peppers that I am changing my stand here. Since the leaves and everything are maintain everything but their color, I'm thinking we have arrived at the long term situation of hybrids and genetic modification. I would check the package of seeds and see if they are hybrids. There seems to be no other complaints with this concern of the pepper plants except the color. Keep an eye and write back if any other symptom develops.
I wish you well with your peppers.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
