QuestionI've taken on an allotment which I have dug over ready for planting however I now have the beginnings of a bumper patch of potatoes 兗 Can you suggest an organic method of removing them as the site is chemical free other than sifting the land?
AnswerDear Lenny,
I'm puzzled how these potatoes survived your working the soil . . . they must be hearty. I don't know the length of your growing season, how large the land allotment is, or what you are wanting to plant, but potatoes usually mature within 3 months. There is no organic way to remove them, other than digging them, so why not let them grow? There are many vegetables that can be planted later in the season, providing there is time, that will grow and produce. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but there is nothing that will eliminate the potatoes without altering the soil, except digging them.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
