QuestionMy Habanero plant did not give any fruit this year. This is first year I planted it - however, it is about 6 inches tall (did not really grow that tall) and has plenty of healthy leaves. Wondering what the problem is. I live in Vancouver Canada - I know not the ideal place to grow hot peppers but wondering if you can help me out
AnswerDear Poonam,
Peppers didn't grow very well this year for many. The plant really should have gotten taller. You could try transplanting it to a pot and keep it going this winter, indoors. We have maintained pepper plants for several years that way although in the winter, production is very slow and low. Then next spring plant it back outdoors and see what happens. I really think by the number of concerns I have received about peppers and tomatoes, there is something going on that we are not yet aware of. I'm wondering about some sort of fungus and depletion in the soil and we have simply made so many hybrids, plants just grow are unable to produce. You might try organic seeds and see if there is a difference.
I know, everything we plant, I ask G~d to "remove the so-called wisdom of man" that meddled with it all and restore the seed and growth to His plan.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
