Questionhi,
I am wondering i have 2 Jalapeno Pepper plants and they are growing good. the one plant has many little peppers on it and the other has few but my question is ??? the one plant with multi peppers on it the peppers are about 1.5 inch to 2 inch long but on the sides of them they are black.?
what is that caused from ? they are side by side and the other plant and peppers are fine. It is only the peppers that are black it isnt the stems or anything..they are still growing and stuff but are they going to be edible or do i havt to throw them out. THere is no pesticides on them . I have given them miracle grow since they were little but that is about every two weeks and is not a strong formula. so can you help me please. I live in canada in British Columbia on Vancouver Island and it is fairly warm and hummid here.
AnswerDear Pam,
The black on the peppers sounds like some sort of chemical burn to me. I don't use patented growth stimulating products, so I'm not familiar with the potential side effects of these products. If the plants are growing well, but the fruit is either sparce or got a problem, it does sound like a sensitivity to your additive. Try just water on the plants for awhile and see if the additional growth changes in color. It may take awhile, as the plant is full of whatever is causing this, but I would try just water.
I don't know what to tell you about the peppers being edible. If it were me, I'd cut around the black and I wouldn't can any affected fruit.
I hope you see improvement soon.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
