Question
I am growing peppers and tomatos in pots on our deck. both are starting to turn red. when should I pick? do I have choices of leaving on the vine or is it better to take off(when)the vine?

Warren, tomatoes should be left to fully ripen on the vine.  This enhances the sugar content which improves the overall taste.  Once they turn from orange to red, it is time to harvest.

Peppers can be harvested either when green or red.  Red peppers are somewhat more sweet than green peppers, but it is strictly a matter of preference.
