Flowering Groundcover

Groundcover
Hi!
I live in Southern California and recently purchased a bank owned home that has been empty and unwatered for 3 years. Growing in large patches is this ground cover type of plants that clearly don't need any additional watering and produce really pretty flowers that look like 2 Caterpillar stuck together with flowers on their back or 1/2 a starfish. Considering they required no water and zero maintenance to grow I'd like to know what they are and how to propagate them into other areas.  We have a few beehives ad the bees just go nuts over them when blooming,
Thanks!
Barbara

Answer
Hi Barbara,

Thanks for your question.  It looks to me like Myoporum parvifolium.  It is native to Australia, but is sold as a ground cover in southern California nurseries.  There is a link below with a picture and some info about it.  The common name is creeping Boobialla.
