QuestionHello! Not sure if you are the correct person to ask...
I bought a small tree at a store...it has about 7 leaves to each stem...right now it's about 15 inches high. It is labeled "money tree" but is not braided. At the base there are green sacs (2 to each base). My joke that it is a gonad tree! I am sure they are for storage purposes like water or such things. I was wondering what the name of this plant is since there wasn't any specific labeling. Any help you can give would be wonderful!
AnswerHouse plants are not really my specialty. I can tell you Money Tree is Pachira aquatica, and it is often not braided, that's just a traditional bonsai method, considered good luck.
If it is P. aquatica, it would have 5-7 leaflets arranged like an umbrella at the end of each "stem", each leaflet being rather long and narrow, with a smooth edge.
The "gonads" intrigue me, but I have no idea what they are, unless the plant was started from seed: the seeds are 1/2 round nuts.
