QuestionI hope you can help, or direct me to someone who can. My mother (who passed away over a year ago) had quite a garden. I am selling her property and I am digging up several of her favorite plants to replant on my own property. I have come across two bush like plants that currently have no flowers on them, but she always called them her white or pink begonia bushes. I have never seen the so called pink one flower, but I have seen the white one bloom. They are covered with snowball sized rounded white blooms (when it blooms) and the blooms are delicate.. petals within petals. I would like to save them however I do not know how to transplant them, nor how to safely dig them up. My mom would have quite a chuckle as I am known to have a black thumb.. I can kill bamboo and cactus indoors. If I am successful, I'm not even sure what kind of light requirements they have, though I have searched online. I can tell you they stay outdoors year round and come back every year on their own.. even in a neglected garden. I'd appreciate any help you can give me
AnswerI'm not sure exactly what kind of plants you have, but here are some general guidelines for transplanting:
It would be best to wait until the Fall or Winter to do it, if possible. When you dig them, make sure they have been watered recently. Try to get as much of the root system as possible. Replant them as soon as possible and water them in. Then water every few days until they seem to have rooted in.
Good luck,
