QuestionI live in Spokane, WA. In my front flowerbed I have an unknown mass of plants growing. They are growing from seeds and they are covering the entire area. I originally thought they were wave petunias that had reseeded themselves from the previous year. They are small (about 4 inches tall at the largest), they have a broad roundes leaf and they are fuzzy. They have multiple leaves off of a single stalk. Nothing is flowering. I know they are not petunias because some of those have come up next to them. I also have foxglove growing in the same bed but I don't think that's what they are, there's just too many. It seems like too many to just be a weed, but maybe not. Can you help me?
AnswerValerie,
Just a wild guess, but do you have a bird feeder in the area?? What you are describing sounds like Sunflower seedlings coming up from seed dropped under a bird feeder. I've seen this more often than you'd think.
It that's not it, send me a picture of them at

Hope this helps,
