Help to identify a plant

Question
I purchased a green plant...it had no name the person selling it had no idea what it was. I bought it in Columbus Georgia...at a K Mart store. The leaves (there are only 7) are very large & a true green...they stick out from a almost invisible peak at the center...the leaves are about 12" long and 6-8" wide...the edges of them are scholloped and look like ruffeles. Each leaf is on a thick stalk (only one leaf per stalk)...the stalks are a light yellow-green... and the entire plant sticks up...without support. It sort of reminds me of a cabbage...but it's leaves are much farther appart. When I bought it...it was in a worn basket...I planted it in a sunny place...with afternoon shade. I have a large flower garden and I have to water almost daily because of the lack of rain...for the first 6 weeks the plant grew and looked healthy...then about 3 days ago it's leaves lost their spunk and are drooping bad...I bought a plant stand holder...hoping to revive it...by supporting the limp leaves. I also have not watered it for 3 days thinking that maybe I had overwatered it...I actually need some ADVICE before it dies completely...I love the plant and am desperate to TRY anything you suggest. The entire curcumference is about 7-8' so it is a big plant. Could you possibly give me a "guess" as to how I can save it? It is still bright green but the leaves are limp as a noodle...and I am afraid it might die...if I can't figure out what it is...and what to do...thank you so very much for any advice you can give me.

If this is it or close to it, you're going to have to get it back in a pot and out of the sun.  These plants can't take more than a couple hours of sun.

From the symptoms you describe, it just getting too much and not enough water.

Good Luck,

John
