Question -
I was sent some very large lily bulbs as a freebee with a plant order and was told they were "siberian" lilies. Could they be Asiatic? The plant was like an easter lily--large white and lots of very fragrant flowers. Was about 16" tall. I love them. am wondering if I need to dig them for winter? We are in zone 5 at the edge of zone 6 (southern IN/Ohio river edge) I can't seem to lcoate this plant anywhere and I don't want to lose them. Lynne

Dear Lynne,
Several lilies go by the common name "siberian"...Was your flowers single large ones or smaller ones that looked down in a chandelier type arrangement?
Write back please and I will be able to help more,
Angie
AnswerThank you Lynne,
As is so common a problem with common names. The siberian lily has several species that go by that.
An heirloom species I found under that name is called Lilium Davuricum in latin.
Another is Lilium pumilum.
Most commonly called siberian lily is Ixiolirion tataricum, a small blue flower.
In florist books it is another name for an Oriental lily.
All should be hardy in your zone.
I'm sorry to be so wishy-washy, but common name can be a problem...also there is always the chance that it was labeled wrong!
Thank you for your question...I would suggest that you type those names into a search engine and see which one most closely resemblies yours.
Please write back if you have any other questions,
Angie
