QuestionI was in Thailand and Bali. I saw a climbing plant there with sort of heartshaped leaves that grows long straight thread-like hanging areal roots. The roots are whitish and turn pinkish at the bottom, they are so dense that they create curtains. Can you find out what this plant is called? In Thailand I think they call it Bali Curtain
AnswerHello Carlos,
I have been working on your question. I believe that I have it narrowed down to being a member of the Cissus genus, still working on exact species.
Do you think the stem could be classified as having 4 winged sides or did the stems or leaves seem succulent?
I'll continue to work on this and get back with you soon.
Angie
Carlos,
I believe the species you are interested in is either...
Cissus amazonica or Cissus sicyoides
I have several e-mails out to tropical gardens, if I hear from them I will update the anwser.
I'm fairly sure the it is sicyoides based on descriptions I have read (nice on on glasshouseworks.com) - Can't find a picture of a mature one however.
Hope this helps...if I can be of any other service, please write.
