QuestionI live in Phila, Pa, Zone i'm not sure of.
But i have a ( Dianthus Desmond) How is the best way to plant this? Do I need to mix anything with with the soil,? Is it best to plant this in a Pot or right into the ground?
I also have a papaya Tree, Can you tell me how is this best to put it into, ground or large pot?
Do I mix with course sand, orpellet sand? I bought a good soil, but not sure if i should put it in the ground. How big will this get ? and does it take long to grow the fruit?
Any help will be helpful.
Thank You

"Fragrant Red Blooms All Summer AND Evergreen Foliage!
The deepest-colored, most stunning red yet!
Desmond is simply the best red Dianthus I've ever seen! A prolific bloomer, it bears 2-inch, fully double, deliciously fragrant blooms all summer. And the silvery-green foliage shows the deep bloom color to best advantage, while remaining an evergreen joy for the year-round garden.
Desmond is a charming addition to the rock garden, the front of the border, and edging. It forms a neat 12-inch mound, nicely rounded and very dense, that complements other plants without overwhelming them.?This late spring to early summer bloomer offers spicy fragrance, cheerful colors, and attractive foliage.
Space the plants 6 to 10 inches apart in a sunny, well-drained location, preferably in a gritty soil of substantial lime content. Zones 3-9. 3-inch pot"
it's best to put it where you like it. it will do good in a pot or the ground. i always add a little peat humus(or canadian peat moss) to mix in w/the soil. turf lime will help this plant also to raise the soil pH.
papaya is hard to pollinate to produce fruit. often they do it artificially w/a brush. it is not winter hardy in your area. you can take it in for the winter. get to a local garden center/nursery and quiz them papayas as indoor tropical plants. buy your products from them and they should be more than happy to help you.
