QuestionHello, I live in Sitka, Alaska, zone 7a. I ordered some Chaste Tree seeds, and planted an entire flat of them. After two months of watering, one tiny spark of life emerged, and I coddled it carefully, thinking it was a Chaste Tree, but realized it doesn't match with the pictures in my herb book. The plant I have is now one year old, nearly 3 feet tall, and has been living in a greenhouse environment. The leaves are simple elliptic shape, and there are clusters of pale greenish tiny star-like flowers, along with clusters of large pea-sized lanterns that begin green, turning beige, and then opening up with a small bright red berry inside. The stalk is woody, and nearly 1/2 inch thick at the base. Several leaves turn yellow daily, and fall off. Also, the leaves droop quickly if not watered at least every other day. I would like to know what kind of plant this is, and if it can be transferred outside to a flower bed? Thank you for your help.
Answerthere are millions of plants out there, so w/out seeing it i can't be sure. send a digital photo(jpeg format) to
[email protected]. put Plant ID on the subject line or i may not open it.....
and i can give you more of a positve answer.
i'm sure i will tell you to get to a local garden center/nursery and quiz them on this plant. take a sample or picture w/you.
i'm in southern NJ and our climate zone is 8. more than likely the plant is from a (weed)seed that ended up in your tray mistakenly.
