QuestionI was recently in Santa Barbara, CA and visited a garden that they
have in the center of town. In the garden there was a plant that
had leaves like a fern - but it was very tall (some over 15 feet)
and the leaves were a beautiful pink color. Does this sound at
all familiar to you? Could it really be a fern? And if so, do you
know what it is called? I have a picture of it, but I'm not sure
how to attach it to this inquiry. Any help in identifying it would
be greatly appreciated.
Answeri always tell my students that the easiest way to ID a plant in a person's yard is to ask the person who's yard it is in. that was a very sure way to normally name a plant your haven't seen before. thus, call, write, email, etc. santa barbara and ask them if they know what the plant is. more than likely you are not the 1st person to ask that question to them.
my guess is - a bird's nest fern, i have seen them quite large(10 to 15' tall) and w/shades of pink in their leaves. hope this advice was of some help.
good luck
