QuestionI live in Texas, about 50 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico, and about 100 miles south of San Antonio. I'd like to have the name of a shrub commonly called "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow". Before the small flowers open, they are a dark purple (Tomorrow) - they open and are a pretty light purple (Today) - then fade to white (Yesterday). They have a very nice sweet perfumed smell. Can you help?
Answerprobably called Brunfelsia "pauciflora" or "grandiflora". also a variety called "calycina" 'florabunda' depending on who you talk to. all are basically the same plant. a shrub evergreen growing from 6-8' tall. originated in south america. grows in temperate areas (FL, Texas etc.). likles sun to partial shade. likes acidic soil. fertilize w/hollytone by espoma or miracid by miracle grow.
