Hunter SRC will not power on

Question
Good morning, I have a Hunter SRC model. I noticed this week that my lawn is very dry. When I went to check the controller I noticed that it is not powering on, at all. I know for sure it is not the outlet. Are these units susceptible to "dying"? I want to make sure I am not missing anything obvious before I buy a replacement.

Also, if it needs to be replaced, I assume doing it myself is not hard?

Thanks!

Answer
Hey vincent, I would suggest taking the battery out of the controller, and then disconnecting the power for about a minute, then with the battery still out, power the controller back up, and see if you get a display. If you still do not get a display, then the controller is damaged beyond repair, and yes you do need to replace it. Replace with either a "Irri-trol" Rain dial controller, or a Rainbird ESP series controller. Stay away from the Hunter controllers, they do not last. It is very simple to replace the controller, basically when you un-hook the field wires from the back of the controller, mark each one as you take it off. #1 wire, #2 wire, etc. and make sure you mark the correct common wire (C). When you put the new controller in, simply hook the wires back up to the same numbers, and the common wire. Good luck and have a great day.
