Question
irritrol SR1 pump relay not working.  Checked control line voltage at relay its 24v.  Yet when I connect control line (24v) to relay, voltage across relay terminals only reads 1.4v or less.  Line voltage is good at 240v, but relay won't energize pump.  Not an ee, so don't understand why voltage drops across relay contacts.  When I disconnect one line, voltage comes back to 24v.

Hi John,

Most probably the relay is bad. But before install a new one test the pump motor. Jump the upper contacts to the lower contacts. Use a couple of wires and at the same time touch the two upper contacts and the two lower. If the pump motor starts the relay coil is bad, replace it. If the pump does no starts have the motor checked.  ( be carefully it's 240V!!!)
