QuestionI got a Richdel 445(21 yrs.old) that I rarely use..only on trips. I recently tested it out..I got 2 stations with new brass valves..each valve has 9 sprinkler heads with 3/4 line. Both stations split my backyard. Everything works, but, one station there is hardly any water pressure...no problem on the other station. But, when I manually water from the problem valve, using the valve screw, there is good pressure. HELP!!! Thank you.
AnswerHey Dennis, normally I would tell you the diaphram is bad and needs to be replaced, but if the valves are new, then that is not the case. What I suspect, is that the hole into the solenoid chamber is clogged up, and not allowing the valve to open up all the way. What I would suggest, is to turn off the water to the valves, and then unscrew the solenoid from the top of the body. In the center of the solenoid chamber, you will notice a hole, take a needle or a small piece of wire, and put it through the hole, and make sure it is clean. With the solenoid still off, turn the water back on to the valves, and you should see a steady stream of water coming up out of the hole you just cleaned out, if the water is not flowing good, stick the needle back in until the clog is flushed out. Now install the solenoid, turn the water back on, and see if it works off the controller this time. Good luck and have a great day.
