QuestionMy system is 5 yrs old and was working OK, but now gives either an OP ERR or IC ERR message immediately after trying to run, then nothing further happens. I've tried manual single station or all stations and get the same error. These error codes aren't covered in their product documentation and their Quick Check Test didn't work.
AnswerHey Linda, usually if the display says P Err, it means there is a short in either the pump start relay or the master valve. Or if it gives you a number, lets say 3 Err, then there is a short in valve #3. I have never heard of OP or IC. What I would suggest, is to first re-set the controller to the factory settings. To do this hold down the PRG button, and as the button is being held down, hit the reset button. The reset button will be on the back of the front display board. you will need to hinge out the board to access the re set button. Next see if there is a wire hooked to the P/MV terminal. If there is, un-hook the wire, and then see if you can run a zone manually. Since the wire is un-hooked, nothing will run, but you can tell if it still gives you an error message. If it doesn't give you an error message. then you need to check either the wire, or the solenoid on the master valve to check for shorts, or if you have a pump, you need to check the pump start relay for shorts. If there is not a wire hooked to P/MV, then you have neither a master valve or a pump start relay. If you don't have a master valve or a pump start relay, then one of the valves is shorting out. What you can do, is turn one station on at a time manually, and if the "Err" message comes up, then you know this is the valve shorting out, and again you either need to find the short in the wire, or replace the solenoid on this valve. Good luck and have a great day.
