QuestionMy system is about 20 years old. Controller is Hardie. Not sure type valves but look commercial not the green Lawn Genie.
When station is reached by Controller water does not turn off. Same thing happens if I run manual.
Bleed knob does not turn on sprinkles on this controller.
If I turn off water supply for a few minutes sprinklers go off and stay off when water is turned back on.
I changed solenoid on this valve about two years ago. I used a round top solenoid, others have tops with six or eight sides.
Is this a solenoid or valve problem. How do I fix it please?
AnswerHey Bill, it sounds like the diaphram needs to be replaced. You will need to know what kind of valve you have (brand, size and model). Most valves have either screws or bolts in the top, that when taken off, will allow the top half of the valve to be removed, and the diaphram accessed. If you can take this diaphram to an irrigation supply house, they should be able to match it to the valve you have. You can also go to www.irrigationtutorials.com and this website will show you how to replace a diaphram. Good luck and have a great day.
