Question
i cant make the valve open, its new and so is the timer i only have 1 zone and it doesn't work. i programmed it twice with no success. does the valve outside have to be in the open or closed position?

The outside valve should be in the closed position. Most likely you are having a wire/electrical issue somewhere. Check to make sure everything is wired properly and all the wire connections are secure. After that try the following if possible: take a volt meter to the timer and insert the hot lead on the zone terminal and the black/ground on the common terminal and turn the zone on to see how many volts the timer is producing for that zone. That will tell you if the timer is working properly. Update me and we can troubleshoot from there if needed.
