i am looking for the most simplest replacement digital timer for my rain bird 1260bi.  i currently have 10 zones on a 12 zone system.  i would like to do this myself.  is it as simple as plug n play?

Hey Shawn, I would suggest going with an Irri-trol "Rain-Dial" controller. I would not say it is as easy as plug and play, but it is not that difficult. Basically the main thing to keep in mind when you are disconnecting the old controller, is to mark which wires go to each valve, and which wires are the common wires. Then when you go to hook them up, there will not be confusion on what wire goes where. #1 wire to #1 terminal block, #2 wire to #2 terminal block, etc. I like this controller because it is easy to program, and easy to install. You should not have any problems. I would suggest going to an irrigation supply store to purchase it, and have them explain to you how to hook it up. good luck and have a great day.
