AnswerHey Susan, it is probably a problem with either the valves (#4 and #5) or the wiring going to the valves and not the controller. To check if it is the controller, when you turn on #4 manually, take a volt/ohm meter and touch it to the terminal strip in back of the controller. With the negative lead touch the C(common) terminal, and the positive lead touch the #4 terminal and see what your voltage is reading. It should be between 24 to 26 volts. If you are getting the correct voltage then the controller is okay, if you are not getting the correct voltage, then the controller is bad. Next go to the valves themselves and check the voltage at the solenoids, again if you are getting a good reading, then the wires are okay to the valves, if the voltage is not good, then the problem is in the wiring. If you are getting a good reading at the controller and at the valves, then you either need to replace the solenoid, or the diaphram in the valve. Go to www.irrigationtutorials.com and this website will show you how to fix your valves. Good luck and have a great day.
