QuestionHi, I just had a landscaping company install a timer box along with doing sprinklers and drip line in the backyard. I noticed one of the stations was not coming on - you can manually turn it on but not from the timer box. It shows a fault at that station. I reset the whole box and entered everything again - went to run that station and it shows the fault. The landscaping company is telling me that if it's their mistake they will come fix it - but if it's something I did they will charge me $125. Not sure what I could have possibly done and don't know where to check now?? Thank you!!
AnswerHey Crystal, if the controller is showing a "fault" on a particular station, then it is either a crossed wire, or a bad solenoid on the valve. Have you done any digging recently? If the wires were cut with a shovel for instance, they could have stripped the insulation from the wire, and the bare wire might be touching each other. Were the valves newly installed, or did they use your old valves? If it was a new valve, even though it is new, sometimes the new valve will have a faulty solenoid. If they installed a new valve, then they should be held responsible. If it is a old valve, then you might need to replace the solenoid. I hope this helps, good luck and have a great day.
