QUESTION: Regardless if I set days or you the skip days option, the timer turns on the
system every day. I have unplugged the unit and reprogrammed several times
with the same result.

Try using the clear (clr) under the SPL FUNC (Special Functions)

?Selects from among 5 different languages. Unpluging only erase the time and date. Clear all the programs A B and C and reprogram.

QUESTION: My unit is old and does not appear to have a Spl Func. key or anything that
allows me to clear programs. The instruction sheet in the lid of the unit says
1997.

Take out the battery, turn off the power this should erase all the programs and set the controller to factory defaults.
