QuestionQUESTION: Hi Jim
I had a Richdel,446PR,Zone 2 is not working and I found in an answer for you that it is probably the solenoid
Where can I find that solenoid, how to replace it,is there any recommendations for certain brands, any other information to help me with that
Thanks a lot
ANSWER: Hey Raf, even though the controller is a Richdel controller, the valves(zones) might be a different brand. What you would want to do is find your valves and look at them and the brand and model # will be stamped or written on the valve. What I would suggest, is turn off the water to the system, and most solenoids will simply un-screw from the valves, and you can then take it to a irrigation supply store and match it to the solenoid you would need. If you replace the solenoid, and you are still having issues, you might also want to pick up a diaphram for your valve at the same time and have it available in case the solenoid is not the issue. If you need to replace the valve, I would recommend a Rainbird valve we like the DV-100f model. When you take the solenoid off the valve, you will have 2 wires hooked to it, make sure when you cut these wires, that you mark them so you know which 2 wires to hook the solenoid back up to. Good luck and have a great day.

QUESTION: Hi Jim
Thanks for the quick reply and forgive me as I'm new in
that, how can I find the location of the solenoid so I can
replace it?(are they behind the controller in the wall or may
be deep in the bore or ......
AnswerHey Raf, your valves (with the solenoids on them) would be somewhere out on your property. They would either be underground and most the times be in a valve box(plastic box with a lid on it). Or the valves could be sticking up above the ground. If you don't know where they are located, you can use what is called a valve locator. What this device does, is send out a signal through your wires (from the controller to the valves) that you can trace with a hand held wand and a listening device. This device can be rented, or you can hire someone to find them for you.Good luck and have a great day.
