QuestionI just bought my home and have ran all three zones a month ago and now one zone does not come on any more....I can hear the pump running when that zone is set to come on yet no water comes out....can you help me with this?
AnswerHey Sandy, It could be a number of things. First it could be the wires running from the controller to the valves. To check for this, you can check your voltage at the solenoid with a volt/ohm meter and check if you are getting the correct voltage when this valve is turned on. If you are not receiving between 22 to 26 volts, then the wire might be cut somewhere. The next thing to check would be the solenoid on the valve. Again, when you turn this valve on, you should hear or see the plunger inside the solenoid being pulled up into the solenoid. With the water off, you can simply un-screw the solenoid, to check if it is working. It could also be the diaphram in the valve. If you are certain the solenoid is working by the controller, but the valve is still not turning on, then the diaphram in the valve is bad, and you need to replace it. A good website to learn how to repair or replace a valve is www.irrigationtutorials.com. Let me know if you need any more help, thanks and have a great day.
