QuestionI just moved into my house 2 months ago and system was already
installed, any idea on how to purge all the lines so that water is not left
inside them over the winter? Thanks a lot.
AnswerHey Dane, typically you will need to know where the main shut off valve for the system is. Once you find this, then look for either a tee with a cap, or sometimes if a tee hasn't been installed you can install one. This tee would be right past where the main shut off valve is. At this point you would need to connect an air compressor. Let the pressure build up, and then turn on the first zone from the controller. Then shut the valve off, and again let the pressure build up and continue turning the valve on and off, until you see only air and no water coming out of the heads. Continue this process for all the zones. There are companies you can hire to winterize the system for you. Cost would be between $50.00 to $100.00 depending on how big your system is. Good luck and have a great day.
