Timer Motor

Question
From a previous question about sprinklers staying on beyond set time it appears I have the same problem. Your answer was the timing motor was out. How does one go about changing this motor? And, can I do it myself or do I need a repair person? Thank you for your time!

Answer
Hey John, it is fairly easy to replace the motor. The first thing to do is disconnect the power and then access the back of the controller by removing the screws from front plate and the whole unit will come out. Once you get to the back of the controller you will notice the motors. Determine which one you need to replace and remove the two screws holding it in place and make sure you don't lose the nuts on the back side of it. Also you need to cut the 2 wires leading to the old motor, and simply wire nut them back to the new motor. Once you have the new motor mounted, simply place the unit back onto the case and screw it back on. Now turn the power back on and you should be good. Good luck and have a great day.
